hello you nice people i am looking to tow a bigger caravan with my car , my Curb weight for my car is 1370 kg unloaded about 1800kg with fuel in it what weight caravan should best suit my car my car its a Volkswagen Passat 1.9 TDI manual gear box abs all round its a classic tank in terms of reliability i towed a bailey 500/5 fully loaded with no problems i can tow ok i been towing for about 7 years now so i very safety conscious aways drive between 50 60 all the time ,i will only want to travel light in the van only clothes and light weight stuff only .i want to treat the caravan like a static van .do shopping and stuff when you arrive ,

Hi Alan. I think you are aware of the sensible recommendations of 85 - 100% of the car's kerb weight. And you have towing experience with a Bailey 500/5 of xxx kg. You know the legal maximum the Passat may tow. So I reckon the man which can give you a good advise is..............

Hi Alan.
As Bert's suggested, you're experienced enough on your car to know it's limits etc.
Can you post the manufacturers actual specified kerbweight and maximum suggested tow-weight for the Passat? I've found varying info depending on year and exact model.
