Should a new diesel engine be "run in" before attempting to tow a caravan?? If so, what sort of "run in" distance would be advisable?

Hi David. I advise a good investigation in the car's manual. I know most manufacturers do a good job in minimising tolerances, using good lubricating oils too. Some run in the engines on the stand or even on a circuit (not the Toyota's or similar) ... But...
A tour with caravan is a hard job for the car, so my opinion? Build it up... Always 10 miles to get the oil on temp. In 5 the cooling fluid temp is ok, but the oil isn't. Low revs and pedal to the metal? No way. High revs? Short after 2k but not needed with a diesel... Check oil level regularly.
