Hi guys
I have an Audi A4 1.8T on an 02 plate. I was thinking of getting a Lunar Quasar 544, am I likely to struggle and should I be looking to trade in and get a diesel.
Has anyone also got any experience of a Freelander td4? COuld seee one as my next purchase but I have worries about reliabilty.
Thank you in advance

Hi Paul.
Unfortunately, the match doesn't have much to do with the power of your Audi, but the towing weight limit imposed by the manufacturer and if your new to towing you're strongly advised to tow at approx 85% of the car tows kerbweight.
From what I can find, the Audi kerbweight is approx 1491kgs, which equates to towing 1267kgs; Audi nrate the car to tow upto 1300kgs, but the laden weight of your choice of van is 1390kgs, so a bad match and far too heavy for the Audi.

Although the Freelander is a popular tug, they too can have a surprising low kerbweight and although they're rated to pull upto 2000kgs, you can't pull above the weight of the tow-car. I know several folk whove changed their Freeloaders for a Hyundai Sante Fe, apparently an excellent tow car and with plenty of weight and torque for the job.

Thank you for the advise Paul, looks like the old A4 could be on it's way then!
